Imani Alexander was 13-years old when she created this artwork. Ironically, now…looking back at it, the piece was totally divine and such confirmation for me of how the dots in our Lives really do connect. When I met Imani, she was with her mother, Shannon Robinson…a friend of mine from College. We connected immediately, mostly because I make it a point to find a connection with any young person I meet, as I am always driven/inspired by their ideas, imagination, innovation and just…them! So, I was so inspired by Imani and thought her artwork was Amazing!!! This was late 2019. By early 2020, I became more of a mentor to Imani and even picked her up from school a couple of times so she could hang out with me and my son before we went to Bible Study. Imani’s Mom was so happy we developed this connection and by Mid 2020, she produced this piece for the first journal…specifically for the Inner Child Journal Entry. It was amazing that she chose to make a piece entitled “Mother Daughter.” Later, it would all make sense.
